Our Students

There are over 5.5 million Catholic Students attending our non- Catholic college campuses and Universities in the U.S alone.  Our Newman Centers play host to many of these students every week, entertaining them, catechizing them and engaging them in the faith.  The students are the life of the ministry and as you can see on our site, they are the life here as well.

Finding Faith in College On His Own

“Coming to college was a real challenge for me.  I was raised Catholic but for the first time I was on my own, and for the first time I had to pursue the faith on my own.  The Newman Center is something that gives you that sense of community.  Its somewhere where you can pray with other people who have the same goals in mind, really want to get into heaven and really want to have a relationship with Christ.”

Justin Petrisik – Student @ George Mason

Sharing Values and Beliefs With Friends

“I enjoy our Newman Center because it brings the Catholic Community together.  Just being able to have friends that share the same core beliefs and values that I do, you can build a foundation off of that.  Fr. Tim is our spiritual director and he is really fullfilling his calling in speaking and relating to college students.”

A Newman Center Conversion

“I have really found a home here at Newman. I think its going to be hard to leave here because the chapel has become so much of a home for me. When I go home for break, its just not the same, to be away from that chapel.  There have been a lot of hard times and this chapel is where I have always run to.  It just has that home feel to it.”

Austin Martin – Student at University of Illinois

Our Newman Priest Provides Great Support Structure

“What I love about the Newman Center is that the priest, Fr. Cheney, is so involved.  He is there all the time.  He comes to just about every event.  He loves us so much and makes sure that what we are doing is great and all for god.  Its just nice to have someone like him around all of the time.”
