Hello parents of prospective or current students!

Point Catholic is the Catholic Campus Ministry program on the UW-Stevens Point campus. Point Catholic is connected with Holy Spirit Parish located right at the heart of campus! The Point Catholic outreach extends to students at UWSP(including the Wausau and Marshfield branches) and Mid State Technical College.

We take great pride in treating each student as a unique child of God, and helping to form them to become disciples. This takes on many different forms: from spiritual and sacramental, to engaging them in service with the broader community, bonding them with fellow students, and ultimately, forming the whole person (mind, body, spirit). Point Catholic prides itself in being an innovative and inviting place with a misson of forming the next generation of parishoners to lead the Church in the 21st century.

We look forward to welcoming your student to campus and into our campus ministry program! We know the transition to college life can be challenging and overwhelming for many, and so we’re here to provide a place to gather, pray and build community with others in the same situation!

Please reach out with any questions you may have!

Peace,

Programming

The mission of Point Catholic is to form disciples. There is no "silver bullet" formula for that because everyone is unique. However, there are elements of formation that are effective. Below are some of the ways we form students.

Relationships: This is the most important aspect of Christianity. Christanity is not a philosophy or a moral system primarily, but a relationship to the person of Jesus Christ and His Church. At Point Catholic, we take pride in forming authentic relationships with the students and helping them to do the same! This is the foundation of what we do and is a driving force in our programming as well.

Peer Ministry: We are building a peer ministry program that focuses on having intentional conversations and forming authentic friendships! The idea is that students will be "paired up" with another student for a week or two and within those weeks, take the time to meet up and share their hearts to grow and walk this journey of life together.

Student Suppers:  Offered (5) times a semester. Similar to a "Theology on Tap" (without the alcohol), the student suppers offer ways for students to build community, but also have their minds formed by a speaker.

Service trips are offered every year during spring break. These trips vary in length and location. Look for details when you arrive on campus.

Late Night Mass is celebrated every Wednesday night at 9 PM. It provides studetns the opportunity to take a break in the middle of the week and celebrate mass together in our Ministry Center gatherings space.

Retreats: We offer two main retreats each year; one in the fall and one in the spring. A Fall Retreat and a Busy Student Retreat! Retreats are a great way to step away from the craziness of university life, and step into a deeper relationship with God and others.

Local Service: Service is a loving, Christian response to the immediate needs of the world. Some of our service opportunities include: serving meals at the Salvation Army and spending time at the Franciscans Downtown.

SEEK: SEEK is a multi-day conference hosted by the Catholic organization called FOCUS (Fellowship of Catholic University Students). The conference is every (2) years. We attended in 2019 and plan on bringing a group again in 2021!
