The H.L. Grant Catholic Student Center and St. Jude Chapel is a ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Austin. We serve the needs of the Catholic students, faculty, and staff of Texas State University-San Marcos.
The Center, located adjacent to the campus at the intersection of LBJ Drive and Concho Street, is named after geophysicist H.L. Grant of Houston (1928-1992), whose generous gift to the Diocese of Austin made our current center possible.
The St. Jude Chapel is named after our patron saint, St. Jude Thaddeus, one of the twelve apostles. He is famous for being a helper in every need, especially in hopeless causes. According to tradition, he was the first apostle to be sent out after Pentecost, taking an image of Christ to King Agbar in Edessa, where the entire kingdom converted after hearing the Good News.
