The NKU Catholic Newman Club is a group a college university students driven to excel both as scholastic achievers and most importantly as Disciples of Christ. We strive to live like Jesus. As a group we come together to share meals, have fun, and grow spiritually deeper in our love for Christ and His church.
The Newman Club in its current form was reinvigorated at the inititative of His Excellency, Roger J. Foys, the Bishop of the Diocese of Covington in the Fall of 2005. For twelve (12) years prior, the Newman Club on the Northern Kentucky University Campus was dormant. However, its recent history has shown great reasons to hope for the future of the Catholic Church on campus with its quantum growth in organation in a short period of time. The Newman Club in the years since 2005 has been blessed with many students who take their Catholic Faith and identidy seriously.
As our Holy Father, Pope Benedict XVI opens the Year of Faith on October, 11th, 2012, the Newman Club members stand primed to anwser his call for “The New Evagelization” whether on or off of campus. The Newman Club aspires to proclaim the Word by “speaking the truth with love.” It also takes to heart the Episcopal Motto of Bishop Foys, to “Let your light shine” on campus. The NC is an incubator for forming Catholics who will go into the world “To Restore All Things in Christ.”
