logo_200px.gifA picture is worth a thousand words, if you understand what the picture depicts. We put some thought into our logo and how we wanted to position our brand. Our brand is the foundation of the organization.  The Newman Connection logo portrays the story of the Catholic Faith. What we believe, what we aspire to do and the faith and love we have in God the Father.

The Shield or ecclesia in the writings of the New Testament denotes the Church of Christ. We come together as one to protect and serve the Lord. NC will bring the right programs and support to make this happen.

On the shield’s right, you will see what is termed the cornerstone. The cornerstone was created as the blessing and laying of the Foundation Stone for the building of a church and dates back to the fifteenth century. This is what Newman Connection is supporting. United in prayer can be achieved by people coming together in once place…the house of God.

The Star of Bethlehem is one of the most powerful, and enigmatic, symbols of Christianity. Second perhaps only to the Cross-of the Crucifixion, the importance of its role in the story of the Nativity of the Christ Child is almost on a par with the birth itself. It is through Newman Centers that students will be able to see the star and follow their faith.

The Tree of Life can be looked at a few ways. The first tree is the “Tree of Life.” This was placed in the Garden of Eden together with the “Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil,” from which Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit.

The second tree is the Cross of Christ. The New Testament often uses “tree” rather than “cross.”

The third tree is also called the Tree of Life, and it is reported by John, who saw it in the heavenly Jerusalem in the Book of Revelation. This Tree is so full of life that it bears fruit once every month, and “the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations.” Newman Centers will work with students, the church, individuals and anyone who is looking to have their faith strengthened and like the Tree of Life, through our faith we become more grounded and rooted to doing God’s work.

Newman Connection also looks at the tree as a symbol of our current environment and how we interact with it daily. Students are bombarded with bad “environmental theology” daily and we must look at what we can do to provide guidance and direction.

Last, and most important is The Holy Eucharist. This Sacrament gives us not only grace but also the Author of all grace, Jesus, God and Man. It is the center of all else the Church has and does.

Colors used – Purple and Gold were chosen to bring together penance prayer and saints. Purple indicates prayer and penance and is the liturgical color of Lent and Advent. In addition it is the color of the royal priesthood. Gold is the traditional color of the saints, with their sanctified intellect being depicted with a gold halo in sacred heart. This sanctified intellect aligns with campus ministry.
